Well, now.

I’m all about the live and let live. We here in Ireland are about to vote on same-sex marriage. A referendum I frankly don’t think we needed to have since I think it’s a function of the Supreme Court to uphold the Rights of the Citizens of the State and not pass it off to the dictatorship of the masses. Since the sole purpose of a constitution is to protect the person against the power of the administration directed against that citizen and not to uphold the administration. But there are times you simply get jaded. Bruce Jenner has decided after siring 5 kids to become a woman. And since shooting and hitting the target 5 times seems just a bit unlikely we can safely assume he enjoyed his time with his 3 ex-wives. Now I really don’t care what this guy/gal does, I really don’t care what he gets up to in the privacy of his home/s-property, nature reserves or where ever legal and private. I just don’t give a shit. What I do care about is that this pillock with a penchant for publicity may have caused untold damage with his stupid loud ‘look at me, LOOK AT ME’ which could easily paint a target on the backs of someone who lives in a less protected enclave.

Today the SCOTUS is hearing part of the Equality in Marriage presentation http://www.towleroad.com/2015/04/here-is-audio-from-the-scotus-marriage-equality-hearing-question-1-listen.html  I’ve not listened as yet, but I will later on.

I’m pretty skeptical about anything that the “K” family does. They are all over the news all the time for “this is not news” news. Their entire lives seem like one big publicity stunt. I have heard that the transgender community has been on the fence about Jenner’s handling of it; a you said kind of ruining it for the rest of them. However, since he’s now shared his story, it seems the community is more pleased that he’s no longer hiding and pretending – they felt that was obviously more harmful.
The issue at the Supreme Court right now is slippery. While I understand the case for keeping it a state’s rights thing, for buy in. But there are some states that seem to still be living in the 1800s and treat anyone different than they are as less than a person. That’s what concerns me. In our history, the SC has been needed to make sure one group of people weren’t denying another group a set of rights. It could be that once it’s allowed, those who are so concerned over it will realize that their gay neighbor getting married will actually not affect their own marriage in the least. That might never happen if it’s left the states.

I am not the slightest bit bothered by Jenner himself. Where I have an issue is where his requirement in LA to play that publicity game impinge upon some poor kid in Omaha, Edmonton or Oxford. It’s a degree of stability in their lives at a time of what must be sheer terror, not this.
