A little bit of Autumn

In some of the photos you will see that Ed sent the rain back to us. The last is of Liquid Amber.
The shop photos are of Tesco from the coffee shop. I use the term coffee loosely, very loosely indeed.
The house is Gurteen le Poer and lived in by Gottfried Helnwein.

That Liquid Amber is gorgeous! Especially with the green from the background peeking through.

I love the shots above the Tesco pictures. The yellow trees reflecting in the water are beautiful. Is that somewhere on the grounds of the house you referenced?

  2. Vince says:

No Kelly. It's a very ancient Celtic well which was taken over by Christainty. It's now called St Patricks Well and has been for about 1500 years.

And the Liquid Amber really is that colour.

    Beautiful.

    Cheers.

  4. Vince says:

    Thanks Randall.

Thanks for this lovely little getaway. I like the bird's eye view of your Tesco, too. Can you tell us a little about Gottfried Helnwein – should I have heard of him?

  6. Vince says:

he is a painter, and very big with the Governator down Tracey's way. If you google he will flag instantly.
The house is mid Victorian built by a Count De la Poer. They pulled down an older house at the same time. Here in Ireland and in England there was a spate of House and Church building at about this time. This mostly based on speculative money invested in the Railways and mines in the US and Canada. However I think some of the cash for this build came from Cod caught off Newfoundland where even today I can hear the accents of parishes near me. Two hundred years later.

It's nice to know where it went. With one small exception, we haven't seen any of that wet stuff for over a month and none is in the forecast.

  8. Vince says:

Yeah Thanks for returning it. We REALLY misses it.
There is another huge system moving in to-day.

Wow. Lovely photos. I color of the liquid amber is breath-taking and absolutely beautiful. I looked up Helnwein – holy cow, was not expecting the art I saw…very, very interesting and emotion provoking. The house looks castle-like. It's always great to see your surroundings!

  10. The photos are lovely, atmospheric. I especially like the ones of the ruin by the pond. I feel the age of the landscape in your pictures. Some of the scenes would have looked that way a century ago.

Beautiful. It looks like the first few are so green…then it gets very autumnal….then, not as much, till that last red-leafed one.

Here, all the leaves are down….(and the sky is grey….)

    Crap. Winter's coming.
